Today it’s on the road again up to Hunter Valley. It is about 200kms so no need to rush. We leave the M1 once we get well out of Sydney and join first the Old Pacific Highway. There are large red flowers by the roadside.

Then the Great North road which winds up into the hills through some splendid forest past Karina and stop at Wollombi.

dsc03354Only really because everyone else seems to have as well.

The roads were empty for the last miles. We learn why when we walk into the bar and just catch the start of the Melbourne cup. This is like the grand national at home. They take their sport seriously here and we enjoy cheering on unknown horses and riders until one crosses the line first and the tension subsides.

We are in Hunters resort tonight.

We decide in our wisdom to dine at the resort.
I wouldn’t, couldn’t recommend it. Ordered steak medium rare so I got it well done, sent it back and waited and got another one WELL DONE.
SO not impressed.
Still they brew their own beer ? and they give samples so that is good. Sitting outside looking over the fields, or would be but it is dark so looking out into the still night wondering if their are any Mossies. Tomorrow is another day. Until then then :-
