Today we are leaving Adelaide and collecting car from East Side rentals. Our new transport is a Mitsubishi Pulsar.
\nWe head first to Gawler.<\/p>\n

This a very pleasant old world Australian town and we have lunch in local cafe.<\/p>\n

On the way up the highway we spot some fields of lavender so of course we need to get a photo.<\/p>\n

From there it is a quick trip up to the Barossa valley. There is a wine route covering the main areas but it isn’t that well signposted.<\/p>\n

We criss cross the valley in a meandering tour of all the major winery names we know, Penfolds and Jacobs Creek being the best known but not the ones held in highest regard.<\/p>\n

Seppeltsfield, Bethany, Vine Valley and Tanunda. 52kms of heritage trail but we seem to pass the same places more than once. Vines everywhere and lots of very expensive properties.<\/p>\n

Eventually \u00a0we run out of road so we stop.<\/p>\n

A lucky break as we see our first Kangaroo hiding among the vines with Joey in pouch. Eagle eye Maggie strikes again.<\/p>\n

The Kincora winery seems vey pleasant.<\/p>\n

The bees have their work cut out for them in this valley.<\/p>\n

As ever Maggie spots the Rose Breasted Parakeets. They are quite common here but to us they look so elegant and pretty.<\/p>\n

The vines go on an on.<\/p>\n

We book a room at Tanunda tourist park. Avoid this place it is a rip off and our cabin has seen better days. Clean bed and sheets. Yet that is the best that can be said for it.<\/p>\n

We sat in the local tavern which crosses as a bookie shop and the dining room looks and feels like a rural hotel breakfast room, stark wood and feels colder than it is. Share a fish and chips with a glass of Yalumba Chardonnay. The wine is the best bit of the meal.<\/p>\n

Then to local pub beside camp ground for a few beers.<\/p>\n
